July 1st - 5th, 2010

July 1st - Happy Canada Day!  There was a Canada Day celebration down at the harbor today.  Unfortunately Mother Nature didn't get the message and sent rain.  We wandered down there anyway.  The girls got their faces painted by somebody with absolutely 0 artistic talent and then wandered over to the RCMP display.  They both pretended to be officers and Ashley stopped for a picture with Smokey the Bear.  Halle wasn't so interested in the bear.

After the festival, we went to the plant nursery and got some plants for Grandma's patio planters and then went to the movie theatre to see Toy Story 3.  Ashley loved it and Halle thought it was scary.  Oh well, it was something to do on a chilly, rainy, afternoon.

July 2nd - We went to Wildplay today.  Wildplay is an  obstacle course in the trees.  They have a kids course and a bigger people's course.  Halle is too small and too young, so Ashley and I were going to do the big course while Grandma and Halle watched.  Unfortunately, Ashley was 1 inch too short for the big course and there was a 2 hour wait so we decided to wait until Ashley could go on the big course too.  Halle had fun walking along the wall next to the path.

Watching for and feeding the deer after dinner.

July 3rd - The girls went out to help Grandpa with some yard work today.

This afternoon, we went to the aquatic center.  There is a big wave pool, a lazy river, 3 big waterslides, a giaint hot tub and a play area for the little ones.  Halle had a blast on the waterslide in the little ones area.  She really wanted to go on the big slides but she wasn't quite tall enough yet.

After the waterpark, we went down to the harbor for fresh fish and chips.  This fish stop sells only the fish they catch that day.  If they have a poor day, then they close early.  It was delicious!

July 4th - Halle went out to help Grandpa kill some weeds and haul some tree branches to the '"take it to the dump" trailer pile.

As Grandpa and Halle were putting away the yard clean up gear, the front door bell rang.  Grandma and Grandpa's former neighbors, and friends, brought their new puppy over to say hi.  He was sooooo gentle and soft.  The girls loved him.

This afternoon it was time to hit the bowling alley.  Halle had never been 5 pin bowling before.  She did pretty good for her first time!

Every night after dinner, the deer come strolling down the street.  Grandma and Grandpa often slice up some apples for them.  The deer are so used to this, that the second they hear walking across the floors, they stop, watch and wait for their treats!

July 5th - Time to go home again.  Halle and I took the Sea Plane back to Vancouver today.  Halle knew that at some point during our trip we were going to take a plane that takes off from the water and lands on the water.  Everytime we went to the airport, she would ask "is this the plane that lands in the water?" and everytime I would respond with "hope not!" until it was finally time for the "Yes!".  Apparently the drone of the propellers was hypnotic because she started to fall asleep as were starting to land and the flight was only 20 minutes long!
